    XR250 Rebuild

First of all, hello everyone, this is my first post here.

I recently became the proud owner of a 1988 XR250r. It was in pretty decent condition (for the age), but i've decided to strip and rebuild it, seeing as it needed a rebore anyway.

So far i've had the frame powder coated black and have just sent the barrel away to be rebored so i'm getting there.

I'm just having one problem. I wanted to replace the rear fender, front fender and the side plastics, the only problem is, nobody lists them for this year of bike. It's all 1996-2007. Any ideas where i would be able to get some bodywork to fit the bike. I have stuff at the moment that's in decent enough condition, i'd just like red rather than white because i'm trying to trick the bike up a little.

Also, i don't suppose anyone on here has any idea how much rocker arms cost from honda?

    Thanks.

    Andrew,

Give us chance. I had left work before you posted your message and I am having a look during my lunch. I for one do not sit and wait for every post to appear!

I would agree that red looks better than white on the xr. Have you tried polishing the plastic up with t cut and really fine wet and dry?

I know what is like when you rebuild from scratch. Something that would normally look ok on a bike seems to look terrible when presented to a shiney new painted frame!

It is! Seriously! Welcome by the way.
But you're a bit keen asking for an immediate response..... impatient, I know the feeling
and we're building up the XR side as it's not long been added.
Would be nice to see any pics you've taken along the way with your rebuild.

    Hello and welcome

Awfully sorry there was no-one sat at a keyboard waiting to answer questions old chap.

    Rocker's + camshaft here; http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ARM-V...QQcmdZViewItem

Have also seen rocker arm set's listed seperately. on US ebay and UK ebay. Wemoto is alway's worth trying.

    here; http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New4p...QQcmdZViewItem

Red panels/gaurd's should be available as my 86/87 XR250 has red as standard. usually a phone call to MX suppliers gets results, as they don't often list the older stuff on line.

Genuine honda stuff i usually get next day delivery from Ling's. 01379 853213.

Would be good to see some pics of the re-build as info on the older XR/XLs is not so easy to find.
