I'm not far away in Scarborough, North Yorkshire not got an XR400 but I do have a KTM 450 EXC so if you don't mind riding with one from the orange side may be up for a ride out sometime.

It looks like we got a guy in Scarborough with a big KTM, the guy in York (where I originate from originally), with an XR4, and me with an XR4, maybe we can get a couple more and start something, a ride out would be good, I just bought the XR, Enduro ready, and haven't used it much yet, 350km's in 6 weeks, so she needs the cobwebs blowing off. Maybe someone knows of a club or a meet in the area that we can all make it to?
    Looking forward to it guys.

Yep im in York. only had the xr 6 weeks now. 2 oil changes later 2100 miles later im looking for some mud for it to play in. been using it to commute 70 miles daily. oh and having a bit of fun on the slippery roads. xr650r for me. so meeting up with others in the area would be great.

I joined the TRF online and then attended the local meeting at the Tesside and North Yorkshire group last month and was made very welcome so it may be worth you joining. Although its a bit of a trek from here to the meetings near Stokesley all the people I met were decent blokes with a common interest in bikes and trail riding so I would reccomend it based on my initial experience.

I am currently trying to get someone from the TRF to show me the local lanes but so far most of the people I have met live 30 to 50 miles north or west of me. I am also waiting to get my maps marked up with the legal routes round here so will be happy to meet up with other people in this area if something gets organised by someone who knows what the are doing and where to ride.

The Tesside and North Yorkshire TRF meetings are on the third Tuesday of each month so there is one coming up a week on Tuesday.

You don't need the trf to find lanes buy a 1:25000 os map of your area they are all on that and they are the lane the trf will use, also your council will have a part of it's website saying which ones are BOATS and RUPPs etc.

Thanks for your reply I know that you do not need to join the TRF to find where to ride as the OS maps have the lanes on and I have identifed a few near to me that I have already ridden.

One of the main reason I joined the TRF was to try to meet like minded people and hopefully some people near enough to me to go riding with without the need for bike transport which at the moment I do not have.

Although a map tells you a lot of information I believe that there is no substitute for local knowledge and experience and this is what I am looking to gain more than anything. Hence my reason for posting on this thread to try to find people near to me to ride with. I was only sharing my experience on joining the TRF as you had mentioned you were looking to join and I thought it may be helpful.

Hopefully we can get a ride out organised at some point and benefit from each others experience and more importantly have a laugh out on the lanes as riding on your own is not ideal for safety and other reasons and can also get a bit boring.
