Which year to get?

Hi,
Can someone tell me the differences between XR400's from 1998 through to 2002 please (limited budget!).

I stand a better chance of the boss letting me have one if it is cheaper - but I dont want to end up wishing I had scraped a couple of hundred more to get a much better bike.

THE COLOUR!!!!. Thats about it they changed from white to red. The wiring looms are ever so slightly different and the switchgear. The engine frame and suspension are all the same unchanged. These bikes nearly always get used for what they are designed for but 99% are looked after well, i know mine is(a 1999 red one)and so do most other people that i know who own xr's

yip i had a 2001 red gloss red but then i sold it

Thanks for the reply's - I'll start working on the boss, not sure if she'll be keen on me having a bike as well as the quad though - soon find out!
