XR250: Questions

I have recently bought a 2002 XR250 with electric start and have a few questions:

1) Do you know where I can get a plastic tank, new or used?

2) Being a Jap model it has the front indicator lights always on (not flashing), what is the easiest way to make them work as a conventional indicator?

3) Gear shifter seems to have been modified /bent to fit a bash plate, resulting in a awkward gear change, any suggestions.

4) Looking at nearside of the bike there is a small box of tricks with pipes coming out, i have been told this is due to it being jap spec, can it be removed?

Plastic tank will not fit, your tank slides onto rubber mounts, where the plastic tanks for the xr250r model bolt on. I know this from trying to fit one to my old import xr with a metal tank.

Adamh, did you ever get the indicators sorted? I've got and electric start Jap import and love it. Apart from the trucker lights. I'm about to take the indicators off to solve the "always on" problem, but they are quite useful when turning.
