Re: noisy chutch on my o3 650r

I lifted this reply straight from an American XR650R website

Mine needed doing during a recent service (03 - 2700KM)

#2 Q: What is wrong with my clutch bushing? The '00 to ?? bikes have a clutch bushing that doesn't get enough oil. It's prone to fail on low mileage ( tighter tolerances) bikes if you are setting at a stop light or revving the bike in gear with the clutch pulled in more than what normal riding calls for. The bushing only is used when the clutch is pulled with the bike in gear. Signs that it failed are when you are parallel parked in the rear window of the car in front of you at the light, or the bike is lodged in the neighbors garage wall after you were revving it in gear. If it hasn't happened yet, or you fear it will, inspect it and install Honda PN 22116-MBN-671. The 1st version has two oil holes in the central groove, while the revised part has holes in the groove and the raised wear surfaces. I have no solid data as to if the newer bikes are coming with them.

Is that what you mean ? Hope it helps

Is it as noisy when the clutch lever is pulled in??
Could just be the clutch springs need replacing. Get some heavy duty ones and you'll be laughing and its a cheap fix aswell

mines the same less noise when the leavers pulled in, only 4000 miles and ive had to change the clutch already
fitted a ebc heavy duty clutch i also bought the heavy duty springs to go with them but they dident fit £58 from m&p,s so maybe the springs may cure the noise if you get them to fit.
and heres the best part when the bike stone cold the clutch still slips!
only for around 300 yards but why?

    still a good bike through

Dont worry about it sounds like it your clutch bearing to me / not 100% but all gas gas trials bikes do it new and old ! when you pull your clutch in it sill there but not as bad ! it fine if you ask me ! you can take it all apart and put a new 1 in but i bet when you get to the bearing it will be ok ! just ride it !

I BET YOU HAVE PUT A CLUTCH PLATE IN THE WORNG WAY ROUND OR ORDER CORK THEN THE OTHER ONE THEN CORK !!! I THINK SOME THING LIKE THAT iv been there befor. if its not that maybe its your oil ? is the xr650r a wet clutch not sure as iv never had to open one up yet ! if its wet you got to stick with the same oil other wise it will start to slip when cold ???

ive now sold the bike it had a wet clutch through and i tried all ways of putting the clutch plates in.
worth pointing out to that the ebc heavy duty springs dont fit! there to big
not sure if the noise went or i just got used to it guess i,l never know now
