    Xr Headlight

Anybody had any experience of this, my headlight bulb blew today so i decided to be clever and fit 55/65w bulb from the car. Drilled and tapped 3 holes through the back of the headlight and the bulb tags. Put a seal around the back of the light then screwed the new bulb to the back of the headlight.Thought brilliant will have extra power for night riding wired it up to the bike and there wasn't enough power from the bike to power the bulb.

I Don't want to spend the money on a high power stator plate. Anybody got any ideas on extra light power the cheap way? and i dont want to carry a torch either

I hope this is not the case as I bought a KMX headlight and am going to replace the standard with it as it carries a H4 bulb. I had read that the bike could cope with the extra 25W draw.

However, would it not be easier to reduce draw from other lights, by fitting LEDs to the rear light and the clock lights?

I did this for my XR. Actually I only replaced the rear light, but that is a 21W bulb replaced with a 3W LED cluster: already 18W that can go toward the new H4 fitment...

My bike is also running a trail tech computer. Xrstuff are doing stators for £95 but i dont want to spend the money on it. It doesn't get used enough in the dark to warrant it so i just bought another bulb

    Re: Xr Headlight

Halfords sell a 35w halogen bulb which is a direct replacement for the standard bosch and alot brighter but the main problem i found with the xr headlight is the reflector doesn't give a good spread of light so the extra light just makes the spot in front of you brighter on full beam it doesn't project the beam any further, but it is alot better on dipped beam.
