Frame and all the other bits are back from the powder coaters.
I've worn my fingers off polishing and cleaning all the other parts. But it should look like a brand new bike when I start to reassemble it

    That frame looks great.

How much does powder coating that frame come in at?
Just curious as I've never had anything powerder coated yet.

I'm tempted to strip my XR down as it's beginning to look a bit shabby.

    Good powdercoaters here Dave......

    http://www.griffsmotorcycleservices.com/

They did my wheel rims/hubs and bash plate

Contact name is slightly out of date, unfortunately Griff died a few years ago, top man top character and sadly missed.

The guy to speak to now is Nick, he did my work.

I'll second that recommendation. Nick did a great job on my last restoration project a couple of years back and the finish is still flawless.

The frame was £90,blasted,with all the threads cleaned out, oilways masked etc and was done by a company called Candywheels in Kent.
The front forks, tripleclamps, side stand, footpegs and the engine mounting brackets have been done in 30% black (kinda a Matt finish) again, blasted first and were £30,from Surrey Metal Finishing in Hersham.

    Re: Here goes the rebuild!

    Well,the front forks are on.
I couldn't believe how long it took to sand down the powdercoating on the trees to get the forks to slide on,even though they were masked.
there was grit in the bottom bearing that needed to be cleaned out, before they were greased up and the powdercoat had gone behind the dust seals on the forks.
    rear end next

So they did the blasting and powdercoating with the bearing on?

Bottom one yes,as it's new and is a tolerence fit on the bottom yoke.
It was all masked, but hey, dust and grit has a habit of getting everywhere.....
