    xr 400 rear suspension

I have a 2003 XR 400 and my rear suspension is too soft. If I hit a heavy rut the number plate hits the rear wheel.
Can anyone suggest a quick fix?
    Cheers

Thanks for the quick reply. I dont understand why the plate is catching the tyre either!! Maybe its been bent before, I will check against another xr400. I have put tsae20 in the front forks to stop them poping the seals as suggested by a mechanic, wether is has put more pressure on the back I am not sure.
    Thanks anyway

Is it bottoming out or just hitting the number plate? If it is bottoming, tighten up the spring a bit, until it stops!

Or do the whole "sag" thing!

Remember that these shocks are fully adjustable, increase the preload by turning the big adjuster on top of spring clockwise, plus you may need to increase the compression damping and rebound damping.
