It seems the XR is quite a good bet then, but the DRZ has the electric boot. I have to justify £1000+ on toys to er indoors first, but I will keep looking. A mate has an XR250(with a 280 kit on it) for sale. Is it worth looking at or will it be overstressed and likely to be burning bits out quickly? He says it is plenty powerful enough, but I have not ridden it.

    What do people think?
I have the 400 and a cracking bike for fun. DR has electric start just more weight to lug around when you get it stuck as long as fueling is setup properly and valves done regularily the xr400 will always start within 2 kicks. My mate has a xr250 there are some photo's of both of us stuck in mud in the xr's page "playtime in cornwall". If you want to ride enduro's get a 2stroke the xr's are comparively heavy and will pull you arms out. The 250 is capable and a bit easier to handle
