    California XR

Hi all, just bought a mint 2000yr XR 400R which was brought in by the previous owner from California, this is my 1st XR.

I had the bike out for a blast for the first time and it runs great and handles the rough stuff with ease.

Need some advice on a few points, there is an invoice for some work carried out in USA, new fork springs RT.48KG , the springs are very noisy is this normal, it sounds like a broken spring scraping inside of the fork tubing.
The carb was overhauled and rejetted with Pilot #58. Main #145 , the carb is a Kehin is this ok for the UK also there is a exhaust tailpipe end a Magnum Krizman fitted.

    Re: California XR

my mate runs the xl600r 1986 from california which uses the xr rfvc engine i am sure thats what his jets are but then his are twin carbs as are mine
a carb is a carb really if you wanted you could give it bigger carb but i dont think it will need it as for the forks i'd check that out dont sound right
    should dampen nicely not clonk
although my road bike sv650 clonks everytime i go over a bump in the road but then this was a design fault

    hope this helps

Thanks for your response Andy. I am going to strip the forks down, as the bike had lay for a few year unused i thought it may just be needing a good run but the noise is still there.
