    XR 400 Electric Start Kit

    Hi,

I am a new guy on the forum so forgive me if it all goes wrong!!!!!

I have owned my XR 400 for a year now and have clocked up nearly 8000kms off road, luckily i live right near Salisbury Plain which is fantastic for off road hacks. Due to an ongoing injury with my right ankle i am considering an electric start upgrade to ease the starting of the xr. To date i have only found XR stuff that sell the kits, does anyone know of any other companies that would stock these kits so i can get the very best price, and indeed is it worth the money! I have also read some very good tips on starting the XR when cold and hot so many thanks to the forum!!

    Many thanks

    Jay

Re: XR 400 Electric Start Kit

Many thanks for all your information, i'll have a look on the net, as you have said they all seem to be exspensive, however, it will be worth the cost to save my ankle in the long run.

As a newbie i had a good read through all the XR info yesterday and found the forum most useful, as i will be ghanging the piston rings etc on my XR next week so many thanks

    Jay

I have the e start kit from XR stuff on my XRs and can vouch for the quality and reliability but there's no doubting they are pricey. With the dollar/pound exchange rate maybe something from the states will be the best value.

    Hi,

Many thanks for your reply, i have emailed XR stuff and they can supply a pre owned kit for £690, which is pricey but pobably worth the money for the decrease in pain to my ankle. Did you fit the kit yourself?

£690 seems a decent price. I bought my bikes with the e start already on but i don't think fitting them is too difficult.

Re: XR 400 Electric Start Kit

Thats great, many thanks for the advice. I notice the link to the off road holiday site, very interesting as myself and three buddys are looking for another off road holiday next year. This year we went to mid wales which i organised, it was fantastic, however, we have decided to go to abroad next year so i'll keep in touch.

    Cheers

    Jay
