    1985 XR250 restoration finished.

Hello to everyone. I've viewed the forum a few times and like to say what a friendly and informatative site it is.

I recently read Kermit's XR250 rebuild thread and can see what a wonderful job he has done.

I recently just finished one of my own and would like to share the finished project with you like-minded folks.

The link below takes you to my webpage showing the restoration.

"I've gone back over the webpage and taken out some duplicate pictures and put the rest in a sort of chronological order. Added a few more words of description too." I'm hoping to add some video of her running so if anyone here has some experience using Dreamweaver or? I'd be very grateful if you could share some advice on how to add video to the webpage using Dreamweaver.

    Thanks for looking Chris.

    Thanks Phil.

One other thing I was planning on doing was putting the cooling fins on the head back to the aluminium colour as they are supposed to be originally.I'm thinking of using a dremel. The head was red as in the photo on my webpage (head was a new one for a XL250R) and the fins weren't painted but when I painted it black/clear lacquer I didn't mask off the fins.

I had a 250RF back in the day and can identfy with the probs you encountered.
I had probs with pulling threads from the crankcases whilst torquing up, rather infruating to say the least
Mine also cracked the head from the valve seats, but didn't seem to adversly affect the performance, they tended to run a bit hot so I added an oil cooler.
Lighting was a bit exciting as the brake light used to cause the headlight to go dull, sorted with a capacitor although a LED would be OK.
Never let me down and particularly good on tricky rockky stuff.
    Nice bike.
