    Crankcase Breather filter..

After killing my Nx650 Dominator by dropping it in a big puddle and not realizing that water had gone down the crankcase breather tube via the airbox and shagged the piston rings(more smoke out the back than a shot down plane!), i scrapped her and bought an XR600. Now this has a breather tube which splits into two, one goes straight down and is open ended and the other goes up and bends over and is open too, now I like this arrangement however I have heard that I can still contaminate the engine oil of dust etc as it has a suction back into the crank case. I was thinking of putting small K+N crankcase filter on the upward pipe, is this worth doing and has anyone else done this or should I not worry. I see that XR'sOnly sell a kit which is what I have in mind(buy the parts here mind). I also thought about re-routing the pipe work to under the tank or seat to keep it away from any water. Over paranoid or something worth doing?

If you're taking this one through deep water again I'd get the breather up under the tank.

hello mate, well no but don't want to get in a situation and then think sh!t after the event, though if i ever drop it i know the procedures!
It's more for general touring and riding in the rain etc.

No one use filters on the their breather tubes then? Maybe I shall look to see if I can re-route the pipe.
