    XR400 Top End Rattle

    Hi Guys,

Having now replaced the piston, rings, cam chain guides and removed the auto decompression from the cam i am still getting a rattle under engine load and not at tick over.

I have checked the cam chain tensioner as advised previously and all seems ok, the cam chain seems good too.

Any ideas what may be causing this rattle, my expirence tells me its a 'chain rattle' and is coming from the top end.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

    Cheers

    Jay

PS Taking the auto decompression device from the cam has made starting so easy!!!

I know what you mean it's annoying. I have a rattle that only appears at tickover or when i unload the rear suspension like when i jump something, i.e the brow of a hill. Strange though only seems to happen with th 15t front sprocket
