    Headlight

I noticed the other day my headlight is visibly dimmer than a mate who has a much newer XR4. Do stators decrease effectiveness with use??
I was lookin at having a brighter headlight and read about upgrading the stator. Is there anything you need/must do.I have been looking here

If you upgrade the stator does this increase the brightness of a standard headlight or have you then got to get a new light as well???

If you put a high power stator in the bike it generates more wattage than the standard one hence you can put higher wattage bulbs in the lights. Xr stuff are selling the high output stators at the moment for £95 i think. A stator is just a coil of wire so in therory it will either work or fail. But corroded terminals and connections can put the resistances up which may make a difference. There are other 35watt bulbs that are a lot brighter than the standard i pay £2.99 for mine from dealer, they are brighter but it's still a glorified candle.

The 04 bike may have a high power one as standard as it is a uk bike. Previous bike were imports and not official uk bikes and honda only put basic stators on them as lights aren't required for enduro etc which is what these bikes were designed for 20yrs ago. The o4 bikes are road registered hence they may put brighter lights on them now

Phil yours was like a bloody candle the other week when we were out.
You sure it's just not the bulb that shagged?
Mine's really bright, mind you it does point skyward most of the time. No idea what bulb is in there.

Mine's an Australian import if that makes any difference.

First check that the wires are seperated and there is not a short.
If it is shorting then the light would look dim.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

If it was shorting it should drop straight too earth and go out completely. Poor earthing could be an issue, but generally it is just due to the fact that main beam is 35watts
