    What model

    Hi

Was hoping to get a bit of help with identifying a engine.

I believe it to be a Jap import XR 250 or XLR 250 (which is why i have posted it into both model groups) , it has been put into a 1986 TZ road racing chassis.

I need to order some parts and could do with your help indentifying it and figuring out which parts are standard and whats not.

Thanks for reading and if you can help it would be great.

    Thanks
    Brendan

    Hi Brendan
It is a Japanese import XR250L
Standard they push out between 21-29 hp,the earlier ones being more powerful than the later strangled ones.

Thanks for that, any idea what year that is and where i can get a manual, parts book and some spares.

Is there any way of releasing a few more ponies.

    Cheers

Much as I don't like to push other forums, the technical advice on here is superb - 4Strokes.com Forums
The people on there have walked me through usd conversions, wheel conversions, oil coolers etc.
I'm sure someone will help you out with regards to the year/mods/power upgrades.
Good luck with the bike, sounds like a lot of fun.

It does look like fun but am struggling to finish it.

I got some bits from David silver, everything was ok apart from the rings which are too big, am thinking it may be a ftr 225 - are they the same cases.

Looks like i will be using the old rings, has anyone get a manual or at least the torque setings etc for the top end.

    Cheers
