    280 Big Bore kits

Done a search before posting but didnt really get anything. Has anyone gota 280 kit fitted to their 250, Ive been after one for ages and will probably still be wanting one for ages aswell but would like to know ease of installation, any problems on running them etc etc.
My XR has 49000 klicks on the clock, Second piston, and set of valves and thats it, so a reliable lump so understandably abit reluctant to do any work on it as its still going strong, but the idea of more torque is getting to me.

From experience, I would keep your 250 standard and just ride it harder. Yes these big bore kits do give extra power but can put a strain on the reliability on the engine.

I have a 280 fitted to my XR, It's one size under max bore, runs standard head gasket, carb and exhaust. I've run it for 1000s of miles, all it really dose if give abit more of the bottem end, there has been no problems. I would say do it, if you are replacing the piston, you have nothink to lose.
