    Honda XR 125 L Off Road Tyre Advice

    HI All,

    I am looking for some help with tyre selection for my XR 125L so I hope you can help me.

    The bike currently has the stock Pirelli MT60’s on which are absolutely no use on green lanes or mud which is what I purchased the bike for.

    I have found two possible replacement tyres that may do the trick and wanted to get your opinion on tread pattern and fitment before I place an order as I do not know which is going to be best.

    The current tyre sizes are;
    · Front; 90/90-19
    · Rear; 110/90-17

    As I said the bike is going to be used for green laneing, general off road use and some road use so the tyres will need to be road legal. The lanes round me can get very muddy, so I think I will need something quite aggressive to get through.

    The tyres I am looking at are;

    · Option 1 - Continental Twinduro TKC 80

    http://www.nationalbiketyres.co.uk/tyres/continental-tyres/conti-tkc80/continental-tkc80-twinduro-120/90-17-64s-/prod_784.html

    · Option 2 – Pirelli MT21 Rallycross

    Both are a similar cost and reputable makes which makes the decision hard. I will do some shopping round on price once I know which one to go for.

    Would somebody with a bit more knowledge of off road riding please let me know which one you think will offer the best off road experience?

    Of course if there are better alternatives out there please let me know.

    Many thanks in advance for your help.

    TD

    P.S. I will be putting a MITAS E-09 on the font.

    Thanks, sounds like the MT21 on the rear is the winner.

    The front is a little trickier as there are only a few available in my size (120/90-19) that have any kind of tread on them.

    Front Option 1 - Continental Twinduro TKC 80

    http://www.nationalbiketyres.co.uk/tyres/continental-tyres/conti-tkc80/continental-tkc80-twinduro-100/90-19-57s/prod_721.html

    Front Option 2 - Mitas E-09

    http://www.mitas.cz/index.php?stranka=300&scid=52&pid=394&thread=&size=

    The Mitas is about half the price of the Twinduro, and the tread pattern looks very similar in the Mitas brochure. Hence the Mitas is in the lead...

    Any idea how these will cope on green lanes, or again if there are any more suitable alternatives?

    Once again I am hoping the forum can come to the rescue

    Many thanks in advance.

    neither are "aggressive" so i would go for the cheaper option.with a 19" front you are always going to struggle for choice,as you know.luckily your bike is light and relatively low so shouldn't be too badly affected on slippy going.until you grab a big handful of front brake that is.
