hi to all, has any one got any experience of avons on an xr650r
that is what i am putting on mine this week, i have read reviews that they are very good on the road, and ok on hard rough terrain, they don't do wet rough but are OK on wet road,
the only problem is that they do two types, and 18" and a 17" my xr has an 18" rear rim and these aint rated as well as the 17s but I'm going to take a chance.
the other thing is don't go over the top on the size, if your stock tyre is a 100 or 110 then don't go over the top 140 to look good as these bikes have tyre sizes for a reason.
if you are only using your bike on the road then just get road tyres for it, but if you want to go off road on hard terrain then got for the Avon's.
the other thing to do is to get two sets of wheels and keep some off roaders on the spare rims encase you want to go play in the snow ect.

had distanzias on the SLR and got em on the vigor, to be honest wet grass /mud they are ****e the bt35.s on the old RD 400 grip better on grass,
just before i got shot of the SLR i put conti escapes on it bit better on the wet lawn and just as good on the road and a bit cheaper to buy. but to honest there are a set of BT45 bridgestones in the shed that are going on the Vigor when the distempers wear out, as i do very little off road apart from accross the lawn from the shed to get out of the gate

got a price of £160 fitted with tubes not bad i thought, and that is the 120/90/18 rear and the standard front size.
and that included just dropping the bike off and they will sort it all out for me whilst I'm at work.
not bad eh.
I am on my second set and have no complaintts whatsoever. XRV 750

but saying that, standard road tyres don't look to bad either.
