How much would you sell this.......

The bike:- 1985 HONDA XR250RF RESTORATION

Just out of curiousity (I think) and you guys/girls are the best to ask, if this was your bike and you were thinking of parting with it, how much would you ask/expect for it?

I realise the small fortune I've spent doesn't dictate how much to get for it and it's only worth whatever someone who really wants one is willing to pay.

Top rebuild, description and costings. I noticed to painted it Biffa red do you live or work near Ponypool Biffa depot then?

My take on this.....
Its essentially an old old XR should a collector want it to put it away in a garage and take it to a bike show on the odd summers day I would have thought it worth £1500
An XR is a bike to be, and reguarly gets thrown around mountains and trails and if your was bought for that it would soon be lookin like any other XR.. for that people pay from £700 to £1400 for a 250cc.
I know of a couple of people who have bought 400s in as new showroom condition for £2200 and thats top dollar in my opinion.
To do something like that is equal to these people that spend 10k plus on puttin air suspension, big turbos, changey colour spray jobs on their cars and the car ends up being sold for 2k!!! Its a love thing I guess but not worth close the money you have put in
Its still beautiful keep it and admire it and even take it out on a sunny day

It's essentially a new bike and I don't know what a new 250 goes for these days,probably the wrong side of 3K,so I'm guessing that if you stuck it up for 2 grand,detailing the work thats gone into it,someone out there would have your arm off

Unfortunately the money and time spent will count for little.

It's an old dirt bike (albeit in nice condition) with no 'classic' status as yet, anyone wanting a bike for trailriding can buy a much newer bike with modern suspension etc for £1000 or less.

Keep it and enjoy it.
