Kick Start Seal

Hi All

New here, so Hi to you all.

Just bought a 1996 XR 600R, the kick start seal is weeping a little, is it the same as some of the other bikes I have had, you can get it out a replace it with out taking the clutch cover off, would any body know the size of it and I might be able to get one from my local car factors?

Strange story, I sold a 1996 XR 600 R 6 years ago, looking on E Bay for one, one for sale not to far away and guess what it was my old one, so it's back home again, with a few more goodies on it than when I sold it !!

Thnaks in advance.

iv looked into this as my xr dribbles at the kicker seal, i don't think you ca get it out without removing the cover to be honest, but all you need is the gasket and a new seal, this seal should be the same as most xr's before 1999.
unless any one else can put light on this subject.

Re: Kick Start Seal

Hi Thanks for the advise.

I did one on a RM a few years ago, that was easy, sharp bradel sort of thing, put it in the seal, flick it out ,pop new one back in, job done, but I don't want to try it incase I get it wrong.

Re: Kick Start Seal

i remember doing that on an old ss 50, that worked as well, the thing is when you put the xr on the side stand no oil drips out, but when the bike is upright you get the odd drip from the kicker seal, so i think put the pig on its side stand and dig away at the oil seal.
i cant see it not working
