Thanks for the advice lads.Taking the speedo off isnt an option unfortunately, when I turn up for the retest the same guy will be checkin the speedo. My mate reckons I could take it off and replace it with one of those small round ones, cost around £40.I'll try it and see how I get on.I'll also post pics of the xr up shortly when I learn how to do it properly!!

Bugger,no aldi over here Wonder could it be bought online? The m.o.t is a lot stricter over here,I'll call into the test center to see if the guy would allow it.Its a silly thing to fail the bike on,when I'm riding the bike and lookin down on the clock the mph stickers do the job

the mot man seems a bit picky to me ive had a push bike speedo on my xr for years and never had a problem with the mot (and it doesnt even work)
you can get the speedos on ebay for under £2.00 but the realy cheap ones wont read over 55mph.
i use a sigma one on my road bike and there spot on.

I've got one of those just for the time and it also displays the temperature As for the speedo i have an inline speedo converter fitted you can get one on line from m and p and just paint out the K in Km/H about £30
Cant find them in M and P now but they used to sell them i got mine from there last year
