    Finished...Nearly..

Well its as finished as its going to be for a while as cant put the USD WR front end on at the momentt as we have run into a problem with the front wheel went to mount a tyre on it today and found that the Wr rim had a crack in it, so need to source a new rim/wheel...

Which also means that i cant use the oill cooler at the minute either as the bracket that i made up fits the bottom triple off the Wr and not the Xr...

    Bugger....

Anyhoo not to worry at least i can ride it again and it feels so much nicer now with a new clutch in it.

How it was a couple of weeks ago..

    Today..

It all depends apon what bike you are taking the parts from, i have heard that the 89-91 cr500's usd forks and triples are just a straight bolt on option all though you do have to source the wheels and brake caliper and these are becoming inrceasingly difficult to find, but IMO the cr500 forks are much the same as the standard rightway up ones we already have, if you are going to the trouble of changing them then you want it to be for more than just looks you want the performance of some modern forks, which is why i have gone for a complete front end off of a 05 Yam yz 426 the forks are of the lastest design and perform much better than the standard items. But for these to work i have had to have a new custom stem made up that will fit the yam bottom yoke but still be able to accept the XR bearings, you will also need a bushing made for the top triple as well to ensure a snug fit for the new smaller diameter stem.

    Does all that make sense?

Got it all button up taday and have just got back from a spin and have to say it has transformed the handling of the bike, bike tracks true now with no wandering of the front end.

The Stem that i had made up.

    The front end going on.

The finished result, reckon it gives me another 2" on the front.

Quite like the look of the blue front wheel, was going to send it off and have it anodized silver but now am in too minds to send the rear wheel off and have it anodized blue!!
