    what an experience :)

nothing major to you lot but just wanted to share, last weekend we went somewhere down the A3 to enjoy some byways and at some point we (3 of us) ended up in front some nasty steps. of course we couldn't even get passed the 1st set it was wet, muddy, the rear wheel just spinning
so i gave up and told my mate lets go back i doubt if bikes can go over lol.
anyway, i was havin a break when my mates came back to me and said that they met 2 others on 09 Teneres and that they climbed the steps.
with out hesitation, back on the bike straight to the steps,
my mate was ahead and i just followed his line and there you go hitting the steps one by one to the top..
it was exhausting, scary at some stage as bike was goin almost vertical but when i came back down i felt just proud lol

    not bad for a novice

    hello heda,
i think i know that lane, is there a small stream at the bottom with a foot bridge? close to the Devils Punchbowl. we call that lane "Bolder Ally". yes that is one of the best lanes around. its very difficult in the wet but quite do-able in the dry, especially if you have a trials tyre!
    good luck.

The proper name for that name is Sailers lane, evidently in times long gone a sailer was murdered there on his way from London to Portsmouth, there is another lane close by called Muderer's Lane where they hung the culprits..

    Anyway history lesson over.

If you fancy a days trailriding anytime then PM me as i often run routes/days around there.

I remember the first time I saw rock steps, Derbyshire it was, I was horrified at the sight of them.

Then the old bloke on the DR350 who was showing us round casually rode up the things using nothing but a swerve of the hips and a northern accent.

I was in trouble now I realised, I had the same bike so no excuses. I closed my eyes and off I went.

When I finally got to the top, I think I beat my chest and did Tarzan noises!!!!!!

Steps have got to be the most fun type of terrain on a trail bike when it goes well and the most energy sapping when it doesn't......
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

Hi Reddeg and Heda. I live just past Surrey in Hampshire so not a millions miles away, there are some great lanes near here and I've travelled a few lanes in Surrey. When you next fancy going out, post it on here as I'd love to join you. I have XR400 (new to me) but not many riding pals around here.
