newbie tyre question

Ok I just bought an XR400 as my africa twin and me were taking a serious bashing each weekend

Looking to put some road legal tyres on it as at present they are not - so looking for recomendations. Basically the terrain here in the sunny dordogne france is muddy (will be in a month or two) and slippery rocks. I spend only spend 10/20 % of my time on asphalt but really just want road legal offroad tyres.
