    newbie tyre question

Ok I just bought an XR400 as my africa twin and me were taking a serious bashing each weekend

Looking to put some road legal tyres on it as at present they are not - so looking for recomendations. Basically the terrain here in the sunny dordogne france is muddy and slippery rocks (will be in a month or two). I spend only spend 10/20 % of my time on asphalt but really just want road legal offroad tyres.

You could always buy offroad tyres then use emery cloth to rub off the "not for road use bit" it's worked for me

Ive got to also say MT21s Ive used them loads in the past, and can vouch for them being good in the mud, (lower the pressures) so they make good traction on the rocks, If its really rocky and wet try an MT43 trials tyre on the rear and an MT21 on the front.
