    xr shock

    Hi,

Anyone know if a XR250 shock will fit a XR400? Are they the same length, spring rates etc?

    Cheers

No, They are different. I made that mistake in buying one for my 250. The 400 is slightly longer, has a bigger spring, the gas reservoir top is slightly different, the fork part is different and the comp and rebound dials are different. Apart from that they are similar!

Maybe not an option then. My XR400 shock is knackered because the chrome on the shaft is pitted which has damaged the seals and so lost all the oil.

I am going to have the shaft re-chromed, but have been told that this could take some time, so I've also sourced a brand new shock that should be on the bike this week.

    Thanks for the advice.

YOU can get your old one rebuilt no problems, where is the new shock coming from as DAvid Silver does 2 prices for everything the 2-3 week is alot cheaper than the over the counter price but you do have to ask for it

    Re: xr shock

Thanks for the offer, but I've already bought a brand new Honda shock, still in its box. Hopefully I can now actually get to ride the bike after having to perform an engine rebuild and then find out the shock had puked all its oil while it was in the workshop. It owes me a few quid so I need to have some fun!
