XR250R 84 Full rebuild Complete - Blue Smoke?

Hi everyone i am new to the forum but have been lurking for quite a while, lots of useful info so far.
Anyways, i have just completed a full restoration of a project 84 XR250r. Stripped right back to the frame, poweder coated, bead blaseted the works. The engine has had a complete overhaul. The bottom end has all new bearings, 4 new gears and other bits and pieces. Same goes for the top end. new piston, rings, reco head etc. all Honda OEM parts.

It runs excellent, starts first kick heaps of compression, but it blows a bit of blue smoke under load?

My mechanic has suggested the rings need to bed in, although he had a lot of dramas with the rebuild and I think he might not want the bike back in the shop again.... i have put about 2 hours on the bike since the rebuild.

Could someone please advise if :"rings bedding in" could be the issue - or if possibly something else is wrong? I dont want keep riding it hoping to wear it in, only to damage it further...

PS: has 2 new valves (the other two were OK apparently). The shop reckons they have replaced abolutely evertying that needed replacing...

    Cheers,
    Jono

you need to run in(bed in) for at least 500 miles gradually building up varying engine speeds, never thrash a new piston and rings because it will probably sieze.
the smoke may be the lubricants burning off during assembley, which shouldnt last long

Agreed it could be oil in the bore from assembly burning out. As for run I didn't run my BAndit in when i bought that new years ago just ragged it from the minute i picked it up, 1st service it need 1 valve to be adjusted but may not be wise on a single
