    XR starting problems

hi there ive just bought a honda xr125l-3 and had it running after bumping it off.
only problem is when i hit the electric starter button a loud click comes from the cellanoid, ive checked the battery which has some charge and after riding it for a while after being bumped the electric start works!
its quite strange but somone said it was the starter motor but im not so sure :/ i might just invest in a kick start instead of having to bump it all the time! thanks for any suggestions as to what to do, joe

If the bike has an output shaft it should have a kickstart on it. Then if it won't start elctrically you can do it with your right boot. 125cc you don't need elecy start anyway

    Tried jump leads?
    Checked all connections?
You can double up on the original leads with the jump leads too to check connections.
Tried shorting across the solenoid terminals?

    Re: XR starting problems

the kick lever has being taken off for some reason before i bought it.

my grandad ust to be an electricitan and he came round the other day to try jump leads and the connections im not sure about the solenoid terminals ill ask him about that.

i asked a guy in a dealership the other day and he thinks its the battery but my grandad brought the battery off his bike (piaggio X round and we tried it with that and the solenoid clicked again

does anyone think it could be the starter motor?

Sounds like it if Grandad knows what he's doing.
Perhaps double check the starter off the bike.

Nine times out of ten it'll be the brushes as Jason said. Got to be worth a £10 gamble.
