Hi Sport,
In my experience Avon Gripsters...excellent in all weathers and seasons on my faithful DR350 into Birmingham city and around Worcester. Let most of the air out and they are not bad on hard trails either, avoid deep mud though!

I wouldn't put a road tyre on the back and leave a knobblie on the front as the rear will make the bike feel as though you can lean over further and further ...until you run out of grip from the front.
As another has already said, use Gripsters or change the wheels for 17".
17 inch conversion is too expensive for me, so am looking for road tyres for the standard rims.
Got a s/hand trailwing for the front and looking for a rear now. Budget really tight so s/hand is my only route for now; done this before on my sportsbikes with no problems with mismatched front / rear...
