Many thanks for any help you might offer,

Typically for a cable clutch you need to screw the handlebar clutch adjuster all of the way in, then to adjust the engine end of the clutch lifter so that there is a small about of play. This can be called the coarse adjuster. The handlebar end can be called the fine adjuster. Give yourself about sufficient play of about half an inch at the end of the clutch lever. You can adjust for the bite point at the fine adjuster.

    Re: XR200 ??

There's a nice sounding XR200R Prolink for sale on www.enduronews.co.uk for £700. I know that it was a popular little bike in its day but I think that I would find it a little too small for me.

Now if only the wife had £700...

    Re: XR200 ??

i think the best bike would be the older xr200r, the later bikes had the same engine, but the suspension was getting more trail orientated, the bikes are actualy a lot different after 1983/4, the frame, panels, tank, and suspension are all different, although some had a front disc brake fitted, but they are rarer.
trouble is these bikes are geting quite old and ataining classic status meaning that some push the price up, whilst the bikes are knackered, but they are easy to maintain and reapir as a lot of parts are still available and are the same as the xl 125/185.
if you want a more modern version get a crf230f, although the suspension is not as good.

Thanks for your reply. I will see what I can do. Unfortunately, the clutch doesn't engage, so I'm unable to safely drive it to the shop in its current condition. Is it possible to send a photo of a properly adjusted clutch handle to give me an idea of how it should look?

Alternatively, if you're ever in the area of the Sta. Monica Beach Resort, I'd be happy to buy you a few San Miguels if you'd care to take a look at it!

Again, I appreciate your help --

    Rick

    Re: XR200 ??

Is there a Santa Monica beach resort in PI as well as in Los Angeles...if there was I can get that sorted as my Aunt lives in the San Fernando Valley & I want to go & sort out my late Uncles VFR1000R for her.
But it does sound as though maybe the clutch lifter is not engaging with the pusher in the middle of the clutch boss. It may well be worth removing the right side clutch cover & having a look see if this lifter is working ok.

Honda did bring out a RFVC XR200R but it wasn't brought to the UK in an official basis. As far as I remember it was a XR250R but with a smaller bore.

Rick, if Dave from Private Garden, managed to give you a temp fix today, try to drive it to Du Ek Sam's, as I said before, mechanics there can teach you DIY in the future....

    XR200 Clutch Cable - Replaced

I finally had the clutch cable replaced, and it's like riding a brand-new bike! Getting used to driving around the crazy streets of Dumaguete and can't wait to do some off-roading. I am not "allowed" to post pictures yet on this forum (perhaps I'm too new to the site?), but as soon as am allowed, I will post a pic or two of my 2008 XR200.

You need to "subscribe" to the site,(a small fee to help with the upkeep and maintenance of this site), before you can do a number of extra features, including posting pictures. Do a search for subscription/s and all will be revealed, mate.
