XR600 Frame oil screen replacement - where from?

Just changing oil and filters on my new (to me) XR600R, the head on the frame screen is already pretty rounded, my 6 sided 17 mm socket is pretty sloppy on it, if I manage to get it off it's going to be pretty mangled and I'll need a new one. Is there anywhere I can get a new one mail order?

Or even a source for a 2nd hand one?

Does anyone know the parts number for the frame oil screen, my bikes a '93 XR600 if this helps, I've done a search and also looked through the website above but can't find it.

Don't worry, I've found it in the TT parts area, part number 15500-MN1-670.

Now ordered from the above website.

And it has arrived in genuine honda packaging, a little pricey mind.

I'll get on with taking/persuading/forcing the other one off and another oil/filter change can't hurt.

Struggling to get the old screen out, socket rounded it off immediately, mole grips just seem to melt it, anyother suggestions before I drag it to a shop?

you could stitch weld a bar to the remains then smack it with an hammer, then break the bar off, plus the heat will break the bond on the threads.
ensure you weld the bar on one side only, the side the movement to undo is.

Re: XR600 Frame oil screen replacement - where from?

I started with a six point socket, unfortunately the head was already slightly rounded, and combined with the fact that it is shallow and most six point sockets have a slight recess to the socket faces I was on the path to failure from the off.

Going to have another go this evening, if not it'll be on the trailer early saturday morning to some garage... I've no welding gear.
