Isn't 13t front and 48t rear the standard gearing = 3.69 as a ratio?
a 14t front with 48t rear would alter the ratio to 3.43
Putting a 44t on the rear instead of a 14t on the front would give a similar ratio (3.39) and you could keep the 13t front sprocket and case saver and guard on
in other words....1 tooth up on the front = around the same as 3 or 4 teeth less on the back
