    Light Switch

Hi can any recommend a good way to add a light switch to my 2003 XR250 ?, do I change the entire switch for another version with the lights off position ?. Mine are always on either dipped or main which is annoying when riding off-road.

Funny enough that was the item I was watching on fleabay.
Don't suppose you know if the wiring is compatible between your model and mine ?. Looking @ the wiring diagram there isn't much there lol.

This is the wiring diagram for the enduro version...which might not be the UK version. My XR400R was originally like this and my Haynes manual shows the same wiring diagram.
I bought a switch from Pro-Racing that advertise in TBM.The regulated 12vac is supplied to the switch for the horn and the lights and has a position for the lights to be switched from off-low beam-high beam.I had a headlight that only had a single beam bulb in it with a small 4" plastic lens.So I have a secondary headlight unit with a low/high beam bulb for the MoT.The tail light had a twin filament bulb fitted but no wiring for it.This was easy to sort out with an extra bit of wiring from a brake light switch.
The switchgear on fleabay looks like one that has an indicator switch on it.So long as the switch gear has a low/high beam switch, the indicator switch can be used to switch the headlight on and off.But be sure to put the supply to the centre of the switch, with the right side indicator then supplying the headlight lw/high switch.

Thanks for the info, will have a look around and see what other switches might be OK to use.

    re: Light Switch

These seem similar but have the lights parking bit which I don't have/need.

It's not desperate but would be better to turn lights off when going down certain tracks wink wink .
