congratulations for getting your swing arm bolt out! some people have real dificulties.
copper slip would be good i guess but ant WARERPROOF grease will do. make sure it is waterproof as stupid as it seams, but some grease is easily washed off!
i think i used graphite grease or the cvj grease.
regards
phil.
Never had a problem getting one out, use copper grease to refit. If you look through my posts in xr forum you'll come across a suspension rebuild it did. This shows you where to fit grease nipples which will keep the swingarm lubricated and all the linkages it's a quick and easy job to do and well worth it

Slipped it back in by hand with a coating of copper slip, glad it's been out all the same as it looks like if they get too bad then your heading for a load of trouble to get the sucker out. The center section where it goes through the motor mount seems to be the trouble area keeping that well lubricated is key to reducing the seizure issue's.
well damn hard getting that pivot bolt out, really no way to get it out, the bike was bought few months back and it needed the swingarm bearing done. and guess what after few day trying to remove it, we ended up chopping the swingarm (yes with a grinder) and now we are looking for a second hand one![]()
hi there heda,
there is a xr400 swinging arm on ebay now 28 pounds buy it now or best offer.
seems a good price to mebut 11 pounds postage (is fair, its heavy and big package) but all adds to the cost!
good luck on your rebuild
