    XR650R No spark

My XR seems to have lost its spark. I do have the honda manual but its not the greatest to be honest. I have checked the connections for the kill switch to the CDI and CDI to coil. Has anyone had experience of this fault on one of these bikes before? If so can you offer any advice?
    Thanks
    Scott

What is the condition of the HT lead?
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE

The HT lead looks OK and I dont have another CDI to try. The only one i can see is on ebay for nearly £100 .
    Thanks

Go onto TBM / TRAIL BIKE & ENDURO MAGAZINE / DIRT JUNKIES and ask if anyone in your area has the same bike.

I always think it's best to start with the cheapest item to replace first.

I would try the spark plug.

cheak that you have power whan you kick the bike over.

if you buy another coil most Come supplied from honda with a HT lead and plug cap.

Last would be the cdi unit,as a second hand cdi can cost £90+

    good luck

I have a spark tester so its not the plug. Also I do have power when i kick the bike over as the headlights flickers. I might try a coil

I'd get help from someone with a similar bike - just burrow their CDI a minute and see if this brings the spark back. If it ain't the CDI it's either a busted coil (cheapest and least likely) or some faulty connections.

I took out the stator today gave it a clean down and then tried it again and hey presto it works! Most likely one of the connections I broke then made up sorted it.
Thinking of selling it now as my riding buddy just got rid of his which will mean i use it even less
