    Army XR250

I am tryingto find out what the differences are between the standard and British Army XR250.

There is definately extra wiring that fits something in the air box and the long range tank.

Any info would be very helpful as my I am trying to restore a 1998 ex-Pathfinder bike.

    Mike

There is a relay that controls the lighting in my airbox, on my army xr250 1996 model, to which i need a new one, if you find any spares.

I have a 1998 ex army xr250, it has the 22l acerbis tank, a road light kit and some lumps of ally with threaded holes welded onto the swinging arm, it looks like they may have been for rear foot rests. Apart from everything being painted green, it looks pretty standard.

    Re: Army XR250

Here is my '97 250 as it was when I bought it. Fitted with full road kit, rear rack, those brackets on the swing arm and the relay thing (never did figure out what it did). My wiring from the genny was all cut into as if something had been spliced in, possibly for a radio mounted on the rear rack.

You can see the seat is from a '96 and would not have been as the Army used.

The bike looks totally different now. Red powder coated frame, different swing arm, proper tank, and all red/white plastics. All road kit removed. Almost as Mr Honda intended. Had only done 2200Ks and cost me £600.

I'll soon be posting a full rundown of my re-build, entitled "Project De-mob".

I bought it last March, from Spencers, a bike dealer in Market Harborough (Leics). They were selling it on behalf of their landlord, who was a wheeler dealer in all things ex-MOD.

What does the relay thing that lives in the airbox actually do?

Been several ex MOD XR's on ebay very recently, don't think they met reserve but didn't watch them to the end.
