    xr250 gearing

have just purchased a e start 250 - figured it will be ideal for a total laning virgin and can always be changed later when i get better and spend more time riding than picking it up and it was only £750 with a years ticket and a pretty non abused life by the looks of it

but have been wondering what is the best combination of sprocket sizes for laning and a bit of roading riding - so your surgestions please.

    Re: xr250 gearing

Just bumped my rear up to 46 from 44 (13 front) Its a lot better in the pulling at low speeds now.

Is 48 a bit 'snatchy' from start in slip conditions?

I run mine 14 front 38 rear, goes great on the road, although i do have to change down on long hills if im not giving it the berries, as for off roading with this set up, its possible, I just find that i stay in lower gears more.
