rear shock lengths?

is the rear shock on the XR400 longer or the same length as the xr250?
i ask because i bought a rear shock from flea bodge (to use as a spare while i was having my original one serviced), which was supposed to be for a XR400, fitted it and when i did, my xr wouldn't stand up on the side stand?
just wondered if there was a difference in hight?


and before you ask, i didn't compare them side by side like i should have done, maybe the award for "plank of 2010" could go to me??????

I'm suprised you managed to get the shock on at all. I bought a 400 for my 250 as a spare and found them yo be totally different -length, forkends, resevoir, is there much more??

it makes me think that it was just shafted, it did sag a bit with the weight of the bike!

How much sag have you got with nobody on the bike when there was no gas in my shock it would sag about 3 to 4" under its own weight

i think that might be the case, i just didn't want to get it refurbished if it wasn't for the XR400
