To Buy or not to buy??

    Hi Everyone,

Strange question but here goes, my friend purchased a honda XR 650 from America around 6 months ago (off ebay and yes we all thought he was mad) the bike arrived in A1 condition and as his luck would have it he fell 30ft and has damaged his foot.

The bike has been converted to supermoto but will not start, again its not moved from the day 1. He has now offered me the bike, my own bike is a CBR 600. Does anyone know how easy it is to register/mot/insure an import from the USA? And can anyone tell me if the ride will be a bit manic? I have rode a xr400 and found that ok my daliy commute is 16 miles (march to sept)

    Any info would be great

    Mart

    if it doesn't have a reg plate/number,

you will need to get a dating certificate which will cost you about £20.
give north Leicester motorcycles a call on 01530263381.

you can get it Mot'd on the chassis number, and insured on the same, but you will need to transport it to and from the mot station via van or trailer.
your local DVLA office may want to have a look at your bike after dating cert, mot, and insurance

as for the registration, you will need to get a V55/5 form from your local DVLA office, if you go onto their web site, you should be able to get some help on there.

its a paper chase but worth it in the long run.
