I'd say general condition of bike. Check to make sure the footpegs are straight because sometime they can take a hit which could affect the lower frame.
Sprocket / chain wear, any oil leaks, headstock, swinging arm. Just basic bike check really. Make sure you get him to start the bike as I once went to look at a 400 and the guy spent over 15 mins trying and eventually failed, (he was a youngster) that alone decided me that the only bike I was interested in would have a button.
I subsequently bought a xr250 (95) with a button and their pretty bulletproof as long as they've been looked after. I'm sure there are guys on here who can give you a grater technical insight but just thought I'd pop in my two pence worth.
