    XR400 decompression lever/cable

Whilst out trail riding today, crashed and the bike went over for a minute or so. Stood it up again and then attempted to start it
I should say, it's not got a decompression lever and boy do I know about it now!
It took forever to get going again, (when normally it's a doddle), and I'm certain a decompression lever would have sorted things out much quicker.
I've looked everywhere to get one, but am not having much joy, hence this post.
    Help!

You can get a lever from honda or a good offroad shop, you can still activate the decompressor wit your fingers just flip the lever over on the cylinder

Just got one from America £22 delivered

Didn't know you could flip it over with your fingers though.

    Cheers,

Tried flipping it over with my fingers - I'm obviously not bionic!

I got rid of the cheap and nasty standard decompression lever as it cluttered up the handlebars and sticks out waiting to be broken off, and bought a modern day clutch perch to mount the cable to.

If you check out modern day motocross bikes, thay have a hot start lever sat on top of the clutch lever that is integral with the clutch perch.

I bought a clutch and hotstart lever assembly (SUZUKI RMZ pattern part I think, but any Jap make should do) and simply mounted the XR decompression cable to it. A real neat and tidy job, looks great and cost very little as the parts were pattern bought from 'Offroad only'.

Pics to follow... if I can get them to transfer.

I remeber reading an old TBM where Jenny Morgan used the same kind of thing from a CRF450. Very neat something I must do myself
