I've fitted one of these to my XR4 today. The kit I bought only had the instructions in Spanish, but you don't really need them once you look closely at what you have.
I managed to mount the slave cylinder on a bracket a attached to one of the engine frame mounts. I cut the cable sleeve down to around 1", thereby minimising the amount of cable. Bend the cylinder down slightly to clear the exhausts (take the pipes off to simplify fitting - don't think you could do this with pipes in place). In order to make this work, I had to turn the hose around on the slave cylinder, enabling to unit to be fitted upside-down. This meant I had to bleed the system afterwards (do this with the slave cylinder removed from the bike).
The difference is significant, with very light action and no slip. I've yet to take it out on a serious run, but initial impressions are good.
Tooze
hiya buddy, glad i'm not the only one to do this mod, did you mount it on the top mount under the tank?, that's where i mounted mine and fed the cable down the front between the exhaust and frame. i found it to be a bit fiddly to set the slave cylinder with the pop rivet that was included (35mm i think?) i had to get some help to hold it inwhilst i set the solder-less nipple and tighten it!
easy if your an octopus though![]()
No, I took a chance and placed it at the front of the engine, with around 1" of cable outer. I made a bracket to hold the cylinder away from the exhaust a bit. Just remains to be seen if it is OK. i need to make a up a small extension to the bash plate now, just to keep the worst of the **** off it.
I figured the less cable the better!
