XR 250 Starting Problem (Help Please)

Hi

I have a 1998 Honda XR250 with electric start, which I have owned from new. The bike has proved to be very reliable despite being used for trail riding. Recently the bike has been hard to start from cold, the only way it will start is by not using the choke and cranking the engine over for about five minutes. Once started it will run perfectly and will start throughout the day. I have cleaned carb and there is a good spark.
Any ideas? Any help much appreciated, its driving me nuts.
Cheers

How is the tank vent?
Is there sufficient fuel in the float bowl?

Don't get a bike with kickstart only! You'll be in even more trouble.

Electric start?........ I dream of electric start!
