    XR250 1995 Starter motor??

Hi just bought one of these little crackers today and have run into a little-ish problem. And hope someone here can please help.

Question is this, What starter motor is fitted? as the one on the bike now is the wrong one and looked on google and ebay trying to find answers. What other bikes use the same starter?

    Regards
    Jay

the rear mounting of the starter does not fit on one side and has been packed with a nut on the other side as it steps down looks a right cats backside whoever did it also the + feed on top of the starter is less than 2mm from the head so in danger of shorting out. the bike is a XR250S jap import from what i can rather, has a 6 speed gearbox also. just wish i could find out if another bikes starter would fit, have spoken to XR stuff today and the starter in the kit they sell for the XR400 may fit.

I'll have a look at mine later on (it could be a day or two) and see what I have and how it's fitted.

The only markings I can find are: MITSUBA SM-13 12V. It doesn't have any of the oddities of mounting that yours seems to have. The leads are well out of the way and the starter is snug to the top of the crankcase.
I used to be able to post pictures but I'm not subscribed anymore.
I've found David Silver excellent for sourcing parts and it might be worth a call.

Thats really odd? the starter on the bike now has the same markings as yours but is the wrong fit as only 1 bolt will fit. also after looking at the starter today its trying to spin the engine the wrong way. Could you email me your contact details to please buddy

    Cheers
