    Mine does it every now and again and I have fitted a new needle etc, I prefer your other idea of the overflow pipe catching the float.
    Will keep an eye on mine as dumped fuel over the tarmac the other day luckily wasn't outside my house.

    Fowlers of Bristol have always been excellent for needles like the HRC A16A for the XR400, as well as primary & main jets in varying sizes. Their spares bods are very experienced & Fowlers always have a good stock of stuff. I have phoned them in the past at 4.30pm & the parts have turned up the next day.

    The carb will need cleaning. Make sure you clean the needle valve as this will be jamming allowing too much fuel to flow.

    The needle valve will be attached to the float at the bottom of the carb in the float chamber.

    Remove float and blow out the where the needle valve fits. Both ends.
