    XR500 restoration project.

    Bought this classic twinshocker couple of weeks ago and have now started to restore it. I always wanted one of these as soon as i first saw one when i was a kid.

    couple of progress pics.....


    love this stage of building a bike, makes all the crappy dirty work worth it

    Tomorrow will be fitting the rear suspension, header pipe and yokes.

    Got the swingarm, shocks, header pipe and yokes fitted, starting to look like something now

    This little gem arrived from the u.s today, nos genuine honda speedo
    there can't be many of these left now so when i saw it i just had to have it

    Rare item indeed.

    From the photo it looks as though the left hand handlebar clamp is around the wrong way...the centrepunch dot is supposed to face to the front otherwise the bar isn't clamped correctly.

    Hi just checked the clamp and it is fitted correctly, the dot you can see was actually a drip of oil, the punchmark on this model bike is on the outside edge of the clamp and is installed as it should be.

    New plastic today! Got these from DC plastics in the u.s, they're not quite the quality of Honda but as far as i know they are the only company able to supply new/reproduction plastics for the older bikes.
