Does anyone know the oil plug size and pitch for the XR400? I want to fit an Acewell temp probe to the bike.
Any suggestions on where the hottest point for the oil is likely to be, the plug on the frame or the one on the bottom of the engine?

A friend bought an Acewell for their XR & we ended up putting the engine temp sensor onto the spark plug, held in place by the plug cap. This seemed like the best place & works well.
Hi thanks 416, I am more interested in the oil temp than the CHT. So I have gone for the ACE-TESH M12x1.5mm thread temp sensor. This goes in the bottom crank oil plug drain which from what I can see of the oil flow diagrams should near enough the hottest spot.
I could do with knowing the thread pitch on the frame drain plug. Its an M10 but I need to know 1.00 or 1.25mm pitch. Otherwise I am going to have to wait for an oil change to measure it!! I plan on putting a magnetic plug in there.
That's the bottom crank one, I know the size of that as. Have the temp probe to go in. It's the oil frame plug I need the thread pithy for as they come in M10*1.00 and 1.25.
