    Looking at a XTZ750 - info please

    Hi

Seriously considering one of these to replace my KTM (swap anybody?)

    What are the good/bad points?

Do they suffer from the same oil burning problems of the TDM and TRX?

    How do they handle?

What to look for on purchase eg bearings/bushes/wear and tear?

    Any info much appreciated.

    Cheers guys

    Tristan

Y'see, I could say "You can go fast, I can go anywhere, Africa Twin" But you buggers have 'em as well so it would sound pretty lame .... oops!

I would probably go to www.xt660.com

I've just bought an XT660R and the folks on the site were very helpful.

Corrosion on the rear subframe and the rear engine mounts for cracking, check the front sprocket as untightened ones end to strip the thread, a few have been sold with the sprocket WELDED on

Apart from that it's probably the usual things that you;d look at with any bike.

Handling is good as long as you're used to an upright bike, power is OK and a lot of people change to a TDM850 engine with a few changing again some parts from a TDM900 to give them a XTZ900 complete with EFI.

The oil burning problem is normally a couple of different things that can be sorted, mainly a badly orientated seal and new rings (this time bed in properly

Sorry we only deal with Super Tenere's (750's) and not the Tenere
