Yamaha XT225

I have recently bought an XT225, a 1991 model with 25000km recorded, this is the electric start only model. The starter itself seems noisy in operation, with a grinding whirring noise, although the engine is turned over, the starter seems to slip occasionally, anyone know if this is normal, how hard is it to fix, are parts available &where from please, Cheers folks.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

For parts you could do worse than start at Wemoto -

It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

liesuretrail used to do loads of grey imports, if they dont do bits they can prob point you in the right direction.

Re: Yamaha XT225

The starter on my Serow worked fine (and with no funny noises) so it sounds like you have a problem.

Riders in Yeovil is where I used to get my parts, they have been importing serows for years.

The guy may seem a bit grumpy on the phone but he's sound and has a lot of knowledge.

cheers, Bob.
